Christmas is one of the most celebrated holidays in the world. It is for many a favorite time. For some it’s a time to celebrate the birth of Christ, to some it’s a religious festival, to some it’s a holiday, to some it’s family time, to some it’s a chance feasting and gift giving. Whatever part of the world Christmas is a celebration.
For the Christians, Christmas or Christ mass, is a holiday that is and was meant to celebrate the birth of Christ. This is the genesis of the holiday. It is to them a very important time of the year. It is not clear as to the real date of his birth, however this is the day set apart for the celebrations of the birth of the Christ.
Like I mentioned earlier it means different to every person. Some, who get to travel, enjoy the festive season that is all over the world. This is one of the times in the world where you travel and you are likely to find a party or an event going on in any part of the world. It is a global affair. For the students, this long school break is the ideal time for travel, this maybe by themselves, with friends or with family and planning ahead is essential
There are many places to visit on this time of year and they are mostly jam-packed so booking early in advance is always advisable. The great thing about this time of year is that, almost everyone is in a festive mood and joy is always if not almost in the air.
Some of the Christmas customs knows are the Christmas carols; this is especially done in the U.S. Carols are songs sung at this particular time of year. They are mostly Christian songs or hymns or songs about winter or events that happened before and/or after or during Christmas. There are some carols sung that date back between the 1300 to the 1500. However, in the year 1647 Oliver Cromwell and the parliament cancelled the event citing that people were enjoying themselves too much in the name of Jesus Christ. Later on in the years the event was revived and it was around this time that the Christmas carols were invented. Till today it is a joy of others to celebrate the Christmas holidays singing this hymns and carols.
This is also family time. This is a time where most people get breaks at their jobs meaning that this time is open to spend time together family and or friends. This is the time you get family cookouts, family recopies being passed down to the newer generations. Festive foods and drinks being enjoyed. Catching up with long lost relatives. It is an ideal time for such kind of gatherings.
This is also a time for many to engage in fun activities like Christmas games. It is always fun to interact and spend the season. There are many games that embrace all ages and all sexes. Male or female young or old. That is one of the most awesome things about these games. This is activities done at the workplace to the home. For example for the young and young at heart there is Pin the red nose on the reindeer of Rudolph, gift exchangers, making a gingerbread house, Christmas themed bingo and so on. These games are many and they suit all occasions. There is the opportunity to create and come up with other new games.
